For some who are not intimately aware of Tennessee’s bbq culture, they may think that every little clapboard joint is the same. Same place, same brisket sandwich, same pulled pork. That’s where TRUE Tennesseans come in, with a whole lot of ideas and opinions, if we might add. Every year, every summer, we go on the hunt for a fantastic new-to-us bbq spot that makes our mouths water. This year we made our way to Lake City, Tennessee, and left with FULL and happy bellies.
This may look like a normal little house, tucked away in the heart of the Volunteer State. Little do you know, however, that it hides a whole lot of delicious behind its humble doors. Coal Creek Smokehouse BBQ has quickly become a small town favorite boasting globally good fare.
The family owned and operated space offers dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering to its intimate community. Whether you're looking to swing by for a quick lunch or want delicious food for a summertime wedding, this fantastic spot will meet your needs with fanfare.
All the meat at Coal Creek is smoked with hickory, applewood and oak, dry rubbed and ready for consumption. You can indulge in anything from pulled pork and chicken to candied bacon and St. Louis ribs. Sure, we'll bring Missouri in here. We're kind folks, even if we DO make a better bbq plate...
Looking for sides? You're in luck! Potato wedges, cheesy grits, mac and cheese and pork rinds grace the side menu, and you can order them in single or family size.
We'd recommend bringing friends and get ready to eat right out front! A smattering of picnic tables gives the whole experience the atmosphere of a backyard grill-out, without any of the hard work.
Can we just talk about how amazing this burger looks? If you're going to go for the American classic, we'd recommend the 1/2 pound Monster Burger, topped with pulled pork, candied bacon, burger sauce and macaroni and cheese. Does it get more decadent than that?!
So what do you say? Are you ready to join the party? You can visit at 211 S Main Street in Lake City, Tennessee, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
