There seems to be no other meat more unequivocally loved than bacon. It’s the salty, tangy part of a morning breakfast that really gets us going, the heart of a BLT and the beginning of a pretty great dinner if you ask us. In Cleveland, the whole town decided to celebrate the exciting (and delicious) opportunities that bacon quite literally brings to the table, chocolate covered or no.
Take a look at what springtime has to offer here in Tennessee!
Tennessee tends to draw a crowd with its kind and hospitable locals paired with delicious southern fare. But this kind of crowd? Only bacon will draw these kinds of folks into THAT kind of line. It's well worth it!
Cleveland, Tennessee puts on a BaCON Festival every year that gets the whole town excited about meat. The community rallies around the event, held every April, and features multiple vendors touting bacon-centric dishes and live entertainment.
Chocolate covered bacon? Check! BLT's? Naturally! Bacon wrapped corn dogs? Of course! Your tastebuds are sure to go beserk with the number of local restaurants and low-key eateries that proffer salty-sweet treats from one end of the dietary spectrum to the next.
Get ready to be regaled with live music and great weather as you wander from vendor to vendor, perhaps finding your way to the pig calling contest in the highly popular Greenway Park.
The BaCON Festival is still in its infancy, but continues to improve on its fantastic meat-centric theme and community involvement. The event is $5 for admission with free parking, and you're bound to find something delicious from the vendors that come to hawk their wares, whether they're edible or not.
It's where you can get the whole gang together and experience the great, salty and tangy taste of a good cured meat. Have you been? Will you go next year?
The next BaCON Festival will take place in Cleveland, Tennessee on April 13, 2019. Make sure to check back for updates – we’ll see you there!
If you’re not a big bacon fan (WHAT?!), then you may want to try out this pretty quirky Chattanooga restaurant – it’s one of our favorites in Tennessee! Plus, the rooftop deck is pretty gorgeous.
