My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
When everything is completely dark, a sliver of light becomes the focal point. When you cannot see anything else around you, your eyes will naturally be drawn to wherever light can be found. This dark and light contrast is a fascinating play on two extremes, and the exact premises for a fantastic art exhibit in Tennessee that just opened. Running now through Oct. 27, 2023, LIGHT: Bruce Munro at Cheekwood is a unique and downright art installation in Tennessee, and you will want to see while you still have the opportunity.
Cheekwood is a property that is thoroughly committed to the arts.
You will be blown away by the perfectly manicured gardens and splash of colors with various flowers when you go. The design is such that every square inch of the property is filled with beauty. This art display will not be the first time Cheekwood has dappled in artistic light displays, either; they are famous for their Christmas lights, and regularly hosts dynamic art exhibitions. This is also not the first time Cheekwood has featured artist Bruce Munro.
Munro is an outstanding UK artist whose work has been on display all over the world.
He truly believes that the longer you give attention to a piece of beauty and are generous with your time, the more you'll "get back" from the work itself. Immerse yourself in that feeling and let yourself be inspired! These types of abstract art pieces have always fascinated me, and I can attest to just how inspirational it is to just give your time and attention to such pieces. They spark your imagination and bring forth inspiration. This man has certainly tapped into something truly stunning, and Cheekwood is blessed to have partnered with him yet again. The first time he put his work on display in Nashville was back in 2013 and this 10-year anniversary is a celebration of that art and bringing him back once again.

Wander the gardens and you'll find that each and every corner is filled with enchanted wonder. Walk by a field of fiber optic lights that look like a breezy pasture with waving and glowing grass, or sit by the pond and watch as the large swaying lights play with the reflection in the water.
One of my favorite features are the glowing orbs. From tiny hidden globes amongst plant life to the clusters found like illuminated planets floating in space, you can easily get lost in the magic of it all and this is certainly not an opportunity you want to miss.
These displays are meant to enhance the beauty already found within the gardens and in the mansion. We suggest you arrive slightly before sunset and allow the painted skies to be the first backdrop to these gorgeous art pieces and then experience it all over again when it is completely dark.
Tickets are on sale now, and you can chose to explore both the gardens and the mansion or just the gardens. To get the full experience, I suggest first walking the gardens and then exploring the various displays inside with a walk through the mansion. Whatever you choose, allow yourself to get lost in the magical wonder of this incredible illuminated art exhibit!
LIGHT: Bruce Munro at Cheekwood is happening now through Oct. 27, 2023, and it’s a wonderfully unique event you won’t want to miss. Of course, there are plenty of great Nashville experiences but none of them are like this art display. This amazing display is only available for a limited time, so make sure you check the Cheekwood website for more information and prepare to get lost in awe and wonder.
