There’s no better place to experience the beauty of Tennessee than the city of Chattanooga, and Chattanooga remains one of the best places to visit for locally lauded produce and goods. At the First Tennessee Pavilion, you’ll find the Chattanooga Market, one of the best known and most visited farmers’ markets in the American south. Have you been? Will you be visiting? Learn all about this classic local spot below and perhaps even plan a trip for yourself.
The market itself is held every Sunday from April to December at the First Tennessee Pavilion. Both locals and tourists alike come and wander long aisles heaped with fresh and local produce, and peruse specialty goods.
The market tends to host over 300 vendors, and the free admission attracts up to 6,000 visitors a weekend. Founded in 2001, it was modeled after the Eugene, Oregon Saturday Market on the west coast.
Every week the Chattanooga Market features a new event theme that can range from Holiday Markets to Oktoberfest. Make sure you keep an eye out for a new event schedule that's published on an annual basis.
...to complex and elevated spices you simply won't find anywhere else. The Chattanooga Market is a non-profit organization, and all items sold at the market must be either grown, handmade, or created by the person that's selling it.
