There are all sorts of fun outdoor adventures in Tennessee, but perhaps one of the most beautiful places to enjoy them is here in Cades Cove. The historic valley is rife with beauty, and you can choose to simply drive the 11-mile Cades Cove Loop or experience the verdant span of wilderness for yourself with the help of the Cades Cove Riding Stables. If you haven’t booked a guided tour through the valley just yet we’d highly recommend this affordable and fun activity! Get all the details below.
Cades Cove is a lush and beautiful valley tucked away in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Naturally isolated and naturally beautiful, it's one of the most popular places for folks to visit.
The valley is as historic as it is naturally rich with plant and animal life. Cades Cove is also known as one of the first places that newcomers settled in Tennessee, and you can learn all about it with a visit to one of the 12 historic sites within the valley.
If you're looking to get outdoors and do something fun, you have to check out the Cades Cove Riding Stables! Locally owned and operated, here in Cades Cove you'll find the only national-park authorized riding stables in the state.
The Cades Cove Riding Stables offers a myriad of opportunities, from guided trail rides where you'll have the chance to ride your own horse, to hayrides driven by a tractor.
It's the guided carriage rides, however, that really feel magical. You'll have the chance to sit back and enjoy your own tour of the valley, surrounded by natural beauty and driven by your own private tour guide.
Interestingly enough, all of the carriages used by the stables are handcrafted by Amish craftsmen in Shipshewana, Indiana. The rides are 30 to 45 minutes long, and you'll be regaled with the history of the area. Keep your eyes peeled for all the plants and wildlife, too!
The guided carriage rides through Cades Cove are $15 a person for folks over the age of 13, and just $10 between 2 and 12. Reservations are accepted from March 3rd to November 30th between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
