Finding a good breakfast in the American South can either be quite the feat or a little too easy. You have your health food eateries and smoothie shops like anywhere else in the nation, but then again there are just as many spots to snag a stack of pancakes and a platter of biscuits and gravy. Big Al’s Deli is located in the midst of Music City USA and just might have one of the best breakfast plates in the state. Don’t believe us? Check it out for yourself…
Big Al's Deli may have a humble exterior, but don't let that fool you. The comfort food-centric restaurant has been nationally lauded by the likes of Conde Nast Traveler and remains one of the most beloved dining spots in the city.
The building is modest and adorned with interior pops of color. You're most likely going to be greeted by the owner, "Big Al" himself when you walk through the front door.
Big Al's Deli focuses on solid Southern cooking and serves breakfast and lunch five days a week. You can dine in, order to go, or choose curbside pick-up.
All meals are made to order after you place a counter-front order. You'll find daily breakfast plate specials and a rotating offering of meats that are truly delectable.
What about that breakfast, though? We'd highly recommend noshing on the "Big Al's Big Breakfast," which consists of two eggs, hashbrowns, either two slices of toast or a biscuit, and two slices of bacon or a sausage patty. You get all that for $6.25.
The pancake platter comes with four homemade pancakes and your choice of meat, and don't skimp on the biscuit breakfast sandwich if you're looking for a stick-to-your-ribs start to your day. Lunchtime eats include meat-centric options like herb-roasted chicken and meatloaf.
Big Al's Deli is currently open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
