My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Referring to his fellow hobbits, Bilbo famously said, “We are plain, quiet folks and have no use for adventures.” However, if you know the story, you know that Bilbo gets swept up into an epic adventure indeed. Finding inspiration from “The Lord of the Rings” isn’t difficult because it stands as one of the greatest stories ever told, and that is what led to this unique place to stay in Sevierville, Tennessee. A Hobbit-inspired tiny house village is the perfect resting place for a grand Smoky Mountain adventure of your own, filled with enchanting forests, mythical creatures, and perhaps a touch of magic.
To start your fantasy adventure, book a stay at the Mountain Shire. This is a brand-new village featuring multiple uniquely designed and Hobbit-inspired tiny houses. Set in a forested Appalachian oasis, this village is meant to remind visitors of the utopian region where the Hobbits dwell.
Each house takes on a theme and has a unique look. There's The Serenity, which is designed as a wholly peaceful getaway. The House of Dragons, on the other hand, leans more heavily on the medieval fantasy side of "Lord of the Rings" with many winged beasts.
Inside, each tiny house is just as unique as the exterior. Some are much more rustic and charming with exposed wood and harken back to that old-time feel that makes you feel like you have stepped into something untouched for centuries.
Others, meanwhile, have bright white walls with splashes of colorful touches throughout the home, bringing to mind the cheery nature of the hobbits. Every one of them has many fantasy-themed features hidden throughout the house.
As incredible as Mountain Shire is, to embark on a grand adventure you have to step out your front door... and I have heard it's a dangerous business, but this is the risk for exploration.
Your journey awaits you in the enchanting forest known as the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Located just down the street you have miles and miles of trails to traverse. You may not be heading to the Misty Mountains, per se, but these mountains feature rolling fog that settles beautifully in the valleys. You may also not be on your way to Mordor, either, but you certainly can find your way to many mountain tops and experience the splendor of the most magical woods in our country.
For more fairy tale-inspired fun, make your way to Pigeon Forge where you can play a round at Fantasy Golf.
The set pieces at this mini golf course feature towering dragons, sea serpents, and other mythical creatures. Putting your way to victory on one of two 18-hole courses through a fanciful world can be an adventure in its own right!
Of course, one can’t have a medieval fantasy adventure without a castle and fortunately, Pigeon Forge has one of those, too. Step into MagiQuest to embrace a whimsical attraction.
MagiQuest is an interactive, role-playing adventure where you get a magic wand to complete quests and embark on a magical journey. Take the wand and point it towards many interactive pieces to complete your mission and have a ton of fun in the process. Inside the castle, there are many other activities including black light mini golf, a mirror maze, and an arcade.
Once you are done with a full day of adventuring, step back into peaceful Mountain Shire. Gather around with those precious to you and warm yourself by the one fire ring to rule them all. But in all seriousness, this is one of the coolest nods to "The Lord of the Rings" in the whole village, and a great way to end the day's adventures.
I believe “The Lord of the Rings” is one of the greatest stories ever written, so to have this unique place to stay in Sevierville, Tennessee, is beyond perfect. The Smokies are already a magical and special place, so adding a hobbit-inspired tiny house village makes it even better. To book a night stay, please visit the Mountain Shire website.
