This may be the shocker of the year, but the elegant restaurant, The Barn at Blackberry Farm, has been found the best small town restaurant in the state. For some this comes as a strange pick. With so many fabulous mom and pop restaurants scattered throughout the state, why one of the most elegant in Tennessee? Once you take a look at the property and its isolated location tucked up beneath the mountains, it may make a bit more sense…and we aren’t arguing. This is the kind of date night you dream about!
Blackberry Farm is a renowned luxury hotel and resort that's found in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Bolstered by its gorgeous location, 4,200 acres were snapped up to create a true oasis in eastern Tennessee. An oasis with an award-winning restaurant, of course.
The Barn at Blackberry Farm has reached a sense of heightened fanfare, a sentiment that has reached a fever pitch with the James Beard recognized chef, Cassidee Dabney, at the helm.
Upscale and beautiful, an evening at The Barn is one that truly registers as an investment. Not just for the price - this is definitely a date night spot - but because the ambience and atmosphere is elevated and supreme.
All ingredients are locally sourced or grown on the farm itself, so when you order something from The Barn you are truly imbibing in the region and space itself. In turn, the menu changes seasonally, so no two experiences are alike.
What exactly is ON the menu, you might ask? The privately trademarked term is, "Foothills Cuisine," a mix of local ruffage and refined, palatable creativity.
A meal at The Barn oscillates between high class and adventurous, an experience and a simple meal all rolled up into one. You can't beat the sense of community found in Tennessee's heartland, or the talent and drive found in the kitchen.
You can't just stop in to The Barn - although you may want to. Make a reservation ahead of time and put on your best shoes. This is a stunning experience, one that warrants a good memory.
Although a little outdated, this is a neat feature from the now defunct Gourmet Magazine on the space itself:
You can experience a different side of Tennessee history with a visit to this historic Memphis Hotel. It’s got an interesting story behind it that you’ll want to read.
