Why This One Tiny Town Is Secretly The Best Place In Tennessee
Tennessee is known for its charming and beautiful small towns. There are so many bits of history scattered throughout them that it would take a person years and years to find and learn about all of them. This one town in West Tennessee, though, has an absolutely incredible amount of history, and it’s a spot that you definitely don’t want to miss. So pack up the car and head on down to the wonderfully small and historic town of Shiloh.

The town of Shiloh is a tiny little town about two hours East of Memphis near the Southern border of the state. While it may seem far from anything big, the town has a huge place in history.

The Battle of Shiloh was one of the largest battles of the first year of the Civil War. Today, you can visit the battlefield, which is one of the best preserved in the country.

The Shiloh National Military Park has over 4200 acres of land that you can explore on your own. There are monuments dotted throughout the park, teaching about its history.

One of the oldest family-owned restaurants in the country is also in Shiloh. Hagy's Catfish Hotel Restaurant has been operating on the banks of the Tennessee since 1825!

The Hagy family began serving food from their log shack on the river, and it was so popular that other locals (who would arrive by boat) would end up having to stay the night because they stayed until after it was dark. Thus, the restaurant earned the name "The Catfish Hotel."

When you visit Shiloh, be sure to visit the Military Park between the town and the river. You can find it at 1055 Pittsburg Landing Rd.
