My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
What do flowers and (ahem) butts have in common? No this isn’t the start of a joke; it’s actually an event called Daffodil Day in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Held the third Saturday of March since 1978, Daffodil Day is a must-visit event wherein everyone in this small town gathers together to celebrate the blooming of flowers in the spring and the start of a new season with beautiful flowers and delicious BBQ. So witness the colorful flowers and stay for the rump roast in the charming town of Bell Buckle on March 16, 2024.
Bell Buckle is a fascinating little Tennessee town that really knows how to put on a good celebration.
The famous Moon Pie and RC Cola Festival in the summer is always a good time and many other artisan events are spread throughout the year. This town is known for being artistic, so when it comes time for nature to show off with beautiful blooming flowers, it becomes the muse for a lovely celebration.
As winter fades and new life begins to sprout again that is when the daffodils start to bloom. Everywhere in town these bright flowers beautifully line the streets and add splashes of color and a welcomed change to the drab hues of winter.
Local lore suggests that the school's founder started planting these flowers as a character-building exercise for students, and then later a former janitor began planting them all around town. Because daffodils are perennials, they return each year, thus the cause for celebration.

The event will showcase some of the best flowers at the Daffodil Day Flower Show. Various categories will display some of the most beautiful flowers in town as they compete for first-place ribbons. With some of the most beautiful arrangements and single-stem flowers, it will be a feast for the eyes and that makes all guests the real winners.
The storefront windows downtown will be adorned with spring flowers and beautiful displays to witness. New spring-themed gifts and items will be available at many of the stores and if you love these flowers you can even purchase them yourself for a discounted price.
...while this whole flowery celebration takes place, another event fills the air with the irresistible aroma of sweet, succulent smoked meats. The Best of the Butts Cook-Off is a fierce competition to claim bragging rights to the "best butt" in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Pit masters gather together to smoke meats and bring some of the best 'cue around as guest will be able to sample each one and vote for their favorite.
If you have your fill of flowers and pulled pork and need a place to rest for the night, head on over to the aptly named Daffodil Belle. This cozy guest house sits on a Victorian manor, a home style for which this historic town is celebrated. With close proximity to the events, you can enjoy the festival and stay an extra day to take advantage of some of the other great places in town like the unique shops downtown, or grab a bite to eat at the Bell Buckle Cafe.
