Tennessee is known for being Ol’ Rocky Top, but what about when it comes to a couple of tunnels, hey? We’re known for what’s below ground, but we still have a couple of neat places above it all that we tend to find quite interesting. Take a look at these six awesome tunnels in Tennessee – each one perfect for driving through, no matter which side of the state you call home. Have you made it through any of them?
These iconic tunnels through Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga were built in 1929 specifically to handle tourist traffic in the area. Now it's used mainly by commuters with over 18,000 people per day traveling through the 1000+ foot tunnels.
This tunnel doesn't have an official name that we could find, but you'll find the tunnel between Townsend and Cades Cove. This tunnel hidden in Great Smoky Mountain National Park is surrounded by green forests and is absolutely stunning to drive through.

Located just outside of the town of Kingsport on the Virginia border is the Sensabaugh Tunnel. What makes this one special is that it is TOTALLY HAUNTED. It's said that Mr. Sensabaugh killed his entire family and threw their bodies in the creek within this tunnel. For a truly hair-raising experience, check this tunnel out at night. It'll be sure to give you goosebumps!
