Tennessee is known for its homegrown southern hospitality, for the heaps of delicious food that cover holiday tables and delicious whiskey that serves as a sweet southern nightcap. Our tiny tows are hotbeds of local culture, both food and otherwise, boasting tiny stores and darling antique shops that are bound to fill your Saturdays with fun. In the newly minted town of Nolensville, Tennessee, there’s an Amish general store that is bound to make your list of local favorites. Care to check it out with us?
You can visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you're looking for a homemade sandwich, or you can go shopping for treats to take home with you. Amish deli sandwiches are served up in spades, especially the "Buggy Wheel Sammich," made with strawberry jalapeno jam, mayo, lettuce, baby swiss and smoked turkey. Yum!
We're a big fan of those Amish breakfast sandwiches, by the way. You can indulge on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. if you're looking for a true local treat.
The Nolensville Feed Mill has rung in more than 120 years in business, serving as a watering hole for locals and visitors alike. It's a neat place to visit if you get hungry as you pop back and forth between antique shops around the historic village.
The market is known for its chicken salad, even making 400 pounds of it during the week to keep up with hungry customers! The tomatoes used on site are homegrown, adding a warm bite of summer to your experience.
You can visit for yourself from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the workweek, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. Keep in mind: from January 1st to May 1st the market closes every night at 5 p.m. for winter hours.
This all-you-can-eat southern buffet is also a must-visit if you find yourself in the Middle Tennessee area. It makes for a perfect meal pre-adventuring!
