Strip club tycoon Billy Hull built the Swingers’ Tiki Palace in Chattanooga, Tennessee in the 1970s. The place that would soon come to encompass a sense of loss reminiscent of literary hero, Jay Gatsby, opened its doors in 1972.

Here you can see the remains of an outdoor sauna, one of the many luxurious aspects of the sprawling palace. And it WAS sprawling - at 5,600 square feet, this was pure decadence.

The place was open for only a year before Hull found trouble with the law: supposedly, he hired a hitman to kill his wife's lover. That sounds about right, doesn't it? He pled guilty to tax evasion and spent 20 years in jail.

With the loss of Hull, the place became defunct. You can still find many personal effects, chandeliers and marble scattered throughout the abandoned building.

You can see here the remains of the pool, a place that only briefly served as a party destination. Interesting fact: The pool was shaped like a bunny head, and the ears provided ear-shaped swimming tunnels to the guest rooms.

It's a strange thing, to see such a splendid place fall so low. The Polynesian-style and French influences behind the home are still strangely stunning, and you can even find aspects of popular kids tv show "The Flintstones" scattered throughout.
Forty-four years of abandonment will do something to a place like this, and you can explore a little further, below:
