Tucked inside a rugged Southern California canyon you’ll find a waterfall treasure that’s a delight to experience on a summer day. If you love hiking new trails and daydream about splashing around in a refreshing waterfall, you’ll want to add this hike to the top of your bucket list.
Located in the winding hills of Tujunga Canyon, you'll find a magnificent hike with a waterfall surprise waiting for you.
Trail Canyon Falls can be reached by heading to a parking area near Big Tujunga Canyon Road at 19607 N. Trail Canyon Road. The parking area is within a short walk to the trailhead.
When you reach the trail be prepared for a moderate level hike between five and six miles depending on the route you take.
On a hot summer day, you'll want to come prepared with tons of water for you and your four-legged friends if you're bringing your dogs along. It can be scorching hot in the canyon, so always stay hydrated throughout the hike.
The trail to the waterfall is a beautiful mix of winding paths, lush rolling hills, and even a refreshing creek.
Yes, you read that correctly. You'll encounter a running stream along the hike where you'll navigate over logs and rocks to reach the other side.
During the drier seasons the stream is a bit easier to navigate, so the amount of water you'll see really depends on the time of year you visit.
Along the trail there are plenty of spots to rest and soak up the scenery. The giant boulders you'll encounter are also the perfect spot for a group picture or maybe even a picnic.
You'll also find many downhill stretches where you'll be inspired to stop and snap a few pictures.
But the real highlight of this hike is the giant waterfall that makes an appearance on the trail. What could be better than cherry blossoms AND waterfalls? This spot is pretty much perfection on this hike.
Navigating down to the falls can be a little trickier than the rest of the hike. But, once you reach the base of the falls, it's absolutely worth the adventure.
The sound of rushing water will be bliss to your ears.
Especially after a two mile hike that may have you huffing and puffing up a few hills. So go ahead and take off your tennis shoes and dip your toes in the cool water.
Or, if you really want to cool off, you might want to jump right in and go for a dip in the waterfall.
Doesn't Trail Canyon Falls look like a heavenly hike? What a perfect way to spend a SoCal day.
