I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
When we talk about the city’s nightlife, we may think mainly of late-night social hotspots with music and dancing that attract a high-energy crowd, maybe even a Hollywood club crawl. While that can be fun, it’s not for everyone. And for many of us, there are times when what we really want is a relaxing retreat from the craziness of the day. This unique tea house in Los Angeles is exactly that with a bit of the unexpected, and an experience you won’t find elsewhere.
The tea house is essentially a dream that finally materialized. It came from one woman’s search for a late-evening experience that most places open after dark could not offer.
Shiloh means a place of peace, and that is exactly what this tea house is meant to be. When you don’t want to party, but you don’t want to go home, you can go to Shiloh.
There is often music, but it changes and is never over-stimulating.

During the day, tea houses are the kind of place where you can find both quiet and community, a safe space to be alone, but not lonely. A place to relax, drink tea, read, have a random conversation, and just “be.”
The atmosphere at the tea house is dreamy, warm, and a little mysterious. In fact, the address of the tea house is only provided once a reservation is made.
Tea at Shiloh is purposely hard to define and expectations are discouraged.
There are occasional scheduled experiences, classes, guided activities, ambient/introspective nights, and Late Night Tea. All of them have the goal of sparking curiosity and self-expression, creating a community without pressure or expectation.
Here, unlike most of the city’s nightlife spots, you don’t have to be extroverted or high-energy just to stay out at night. But that doesn’t mean you have to be alone either. Tea at Shiloh gives you space to be as alone or social as you want, to meet people with similar energy, and to be inspired.
There are various cozy corners, spaces, daybeds, etc. where people can lay back and relax, drink a cup of tea, read a book (or write a book!), or have a meaningful conversation with a friend or stranger.
Some nights are quiet and the air is still, while others are spontaneously lively and social. This is meant to be a place that feels like safe, like home, where you can spend a wistful evening being yourself.
This is definitely not your typical ‘late night’ spot, but it has a certain dreamy, welcoming ambiance that might just be your new favorite way to end the day. Have you ever been to this late-night tea house? We would love to hear what you think in the comments. Find out more on the Tea at Shiloh website so you can reserve your evening tea experience.
