I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
If you have ever been to Joshua Tree National Park, you know just how unique and wondrous this desert is, from the looming mountains to the giant boulders to the strangely beautiful trees that give this place its name. A trip to the Southern California desert – whether on a scenic drive, hiking, camping, or staying in a nearby hotel or rental – is a remarkable experience. But the place I am about to show you, the Invisible House in Joshua Tree, CA, is the most exceptional desert getaway I can imagine.
The Invisible House is a literal work of art in the Southern California desert, and is appropriately described as “the most unique desert home on the planet.”
The entire outside of the house is reflective causing it to absorb and reflect its surroundings so that it virtually disappears into the natural landscape.
This 5,000-square-foot retreat sits on a 90-acre private land parcel on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park. The property has its very own 4,000-foot mountain peak, hiking trails through the area’s iconic boulders, and is just a 5-minute drive to the National Park entrance.
