Southern California may not be known for having an abundance of waterfalls, but we have discovered a few that are worth raving about that deserve a little more attention. This one waterfall, in particular, is a splendid sight to see if you’re up for the hiking adventure to get there.
Although the hike isn’t long, it does take some balance and a willingness to navigate a few rocks along the trail. But we can assure you, the payoff is well worth it. Here’s a closer look at where you can find this hidden waterfall that practically no one knows about.
Did you know there was a little-known waterfall hiding right here in Southern California that takes less than a half mile to reach on foot?
Along the .3 mile trek, you'll have to navigate lots of rocks and uneven terrain to reach the falls. Perhaps this explains why Ortega Falls isn't nearly as overcrowded as you might expect.
Sadly, a view from the top of the waterfall will show you that some of the rocks below have been vandalized with spray paint. It's sad to see, but it sure won't stop us from enjoying this glorious SoCal setting.
With a waterfall as beautiful as this one, you'd expect this place to be packed at all times. But not at Ortega Falls. Depending on when you visit, you may only find a handful of people here which means you won't have to share this slice of beauty with a huge crowd.
The best time to experience this waterfall is after heavy rain. Although you can still enjoy the waterfall during the drier months, the size of the waterfall isn't nearly as impressive as it is right after a downpour.
What a beautiful place to visit! Have you ever been to Ortega Falls? Address: 32806 Ortega Hwy, Lake Elsinore, CA 92530.
