I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
From sandy beaches to mountain lakes to swimming pools, for me, summer fun in the sun has always meant spending as much time in the water as possible. If you are looking for some great family-friendly water adventures this summer, these three waterparks in Southern California literally have something for everyone.
Located in Southern California’s Inland Empire, Drop Zone is a sprawling waterpark that literally has it all. There are activities for every age and thrill level.
You can even try out your bodyboarding or surfing skills or go for a swim in the massive lap pool. Drop Zone even offers swimming lessons, a summer camp, lifeguard training, and Aqua Aerobics.
Lil’ Jumper’s Landing activity pool is perfect for littles of any age to splash, slide, climb, and play. Keep an eye on the big bucket - when it gets full, everyone is in for a big surprise!
Though smaller than Drop Zone, The Wave is no less fun. Float with or without a tube in the El Rio Loco (crazy river,) ride a tube down the Riptide Slide into the river, or catch a huge wave on the Flow Rider.
The Slide Tower provides heart-pumping thrills as you twist and slide your way to the bottom. Between rides, grab a bite at the Surf Spot Grill or swim a few laps in the competition pool.
The Adventure Lagoon is home to a truly unique floating waterpark and one of the largest of its kind. In the center of a gorgeous clear lake, adventurers of all ages will have a blast on this massive obstacle course. All sorts of fun challenges, climbing structures, slides, and even floating volleyball provide hours of fun and excitement. Can you conquer all of them without wiping out?
There are lots of other water activities. Explore the Adventure Lagoon with pedal and bumper boats, kayaks, inflatables, or paddle boards. Or head to the Lazy Lagoon to float and relax between adventures.
Take a break from the water and enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities on the beach, including giant Jenga blocks, corn hole, a playground, and more. Or grab a bite from one of the food trucks and lounge along the shore.
With this much water fun to be had, your family’s summer is bound to be unforgettable. Have you been to any of these awesome waterparks in Southern California? Which is your favorite? We love hearing your thoughts in the comments!
