If you’ve been waiting for light and breezy springtime temps in Southern California, you might be waiting a little bit longer than expected as soaring temperatures are expected to continue in SoCal. As the rest of the country is bundling up and preparing for the possibility of snow in May, Southern Californians will be seeking a respite from the heat. Here’s what you can expect:
The springtime polar vortex is here! While the rest of the country will be experiencing plummeting temperatures in the next two days with a high possibility of snow, Southern California will be experiencing record-breaking heat this season.
Since spring has arrived, Southern California has been no stranger to unpredictable weather. With record-levels of precipitation earlier this spring and now soaring temps up to 15 degrees higher than usual in this part of the country, it's hard to predict what the rest of the season may bring.
With a heat advisory in effect for most all of SoCal and other nearby areas stretching all the way to San Luis Obispo, you can expect the next few days to be unusually hot.
As forecasted by the NOAA NWS Weather Prediction Center for this upcoming weekend, the highest maximum temperature in the country will be experienced in Death Valley with a high of 113 degrees.
If you venture outside over the next few days, make sure to plan for extreme temps. Sunscreen is always appropriate most any time of the year as well as drinking lots of water -- two things we should always have on the ready in SoCal.
But at least we know we won't have any snow in SoCal during this polar vortex! So bring out the flip flops and stay nice and hydrated as it's going to be a hot one around here.
Stay safe out there — it’s going to be a hot one! How do you plan to stay nice and cool during this hot weather in Southern California this weekend? We’d love to know!
