Found east of San Diego in Campo, California is the pretty but haunted Lake Morena. It might look unassuming, but there are definitely some creepy stories about this place that may make you pause before deciding to go camping here. But if you’re feeling brave, it might be your new favorite spot. From visible ghosts to mysterious sounds, Lake Morena is the place to go for chilling experiences.
The main sinister story that has been corroborated by multiple visitors is that of the invisible ghost.
A couple that was staying the night at the lake both heard footsteps and saw the lintel on the door being lifted and set back down. The doorknob turned, too, but there was nobody there.
Other visitors have heard footsteps right around their beds in cabins while they were trying to sleep, and those same footsteps around their tents if they were sleeping on the ground. The footsteps simply stop instead of sounding as if someone is walking away.
There have also been tales of a floating baby’s christening gown traveling across a room to brush a guest's cheek! It doesn’t get much creepier than that.
To top it all off, many campers at Lake Morena have seen the same apparition. The ghost of a young woman in a floor-length white dress has appeared on numerous occasions, all but guaranteeing that this sight is real!
Whether you see or hear the mysterious beings, it’s sure to be an interesting stay. Have you gotten to stay at this unsettling location? Did you see any ghosts or hear any ghostly footsteps? We would love to hear about your experience!
