In 1961, Simi Valley established Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District to provide outdoor activities to residents of the community. Since that time, the agency has developed 50 parks and preserved over 5,600 acres of open space for biking, hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife preservation. Here is your quick weekend guide to exploring the parks in this fascinating town.
Start your park tour by visiting Arroyo Park, a neighborhood space west of Simi Valley. It features expansive play equipment for all age groups, a large grass area for picnics and soccer, a tot lot, a recreational building, and restrooms. Kids love this park - and for good reason!
Big Sky Park impresses with a 3.5-mile trail, half-court basketball court, drinking fountains, bike rack, concession stand, restroom facilities, picnic tables, park benches, barbeque area, softball diamonds, and more! You will find a dog park right above the ballfields.
Willowbrook Park is a cute pocket park with the best serene environment. The absence of ponds and playground equipment makes it the perfect place to take a peaceful pause and enjoy nature. Consider having a picnic under the lofty trees - you will not regret it!
Simi Hills Neighborhood Park has everything you need to relax, including lots of shady trees and a lagoon with ducks and turtles. It also has picnic benches, a large open space for kids to run around or families and friends to get together, and a golf course within walking distance.
Head to Lincoln Park for a quick workout. The neighborhood park has a fitness center, a short hiking trail flanked by stunning flowers, and plenty of room for outdoor activities. You will also find a tot lot, basketball court, and picnic tables.
You can take a break from your park tour to explore the rest of the town. Simi Valley boasts some great restaurants, shopping malls, swimming pools, and equestrian centers.
