Named after the historic cabin that was built in Palomar State Park back in the 1880s, Scott's Cabin Trail is a heavenly slice of nature that will lead you straight to the site of this former cabin.
Although the trail is named Scott's Cabin Trail, you won't actually see a cabin once you reach the top as all that remains is a pile of logs to mark the spot where this historic cabin used to stand.
But it doesn't make the hike any less exciting. It's simply fascinating to imagine what it must have been like to live in this towering forest of trees long ago.
What stands out most about this hike is just how beautiful it is. You'll get to experience a fairytale footbridge, a picturesque lake, and plenty of wildlife to give you that nature experience you've been longing for.
The trail itself is best described as moderately challenging as it does have an incline that requires some stamina. Make sure to pack plenty of water and wear some solid hiking shoes and you should be just fine heading out on this trail.
Although this trail is a great one to experience all year long, we especially appreciate it in the summer as it's a great spot to escape the heat under the shade of all these towering trees. Now that's refreshing!
