Salt Creek Beach Park is a popular swimming and surfing location. It consists of a beach park outfitted with various amenities and an almost mile-long public beach. The park opened in July 1972 and has, to this day, seen hundreds of thousands of beachgoers. Let’s dive in!
Salt Creek Beach Park opens to the public daily from 5:00 a.m. midnight. Dogs are not permitted on the beach, but they are allowed at Bluff Park and on the paved walkways, only if leashed. Parking is $1/hour year-round, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Your day of exploration should begin at Buff Park, the day-use area at Salt Creek Beach Park. It is a family picnic area featuring restrooms, picnic tables, barbeque grills, and a half-court basketball court. Catered events are prohibited, but picnicking and potluck-style events are welcome.
From the park, head to the beach. There is a small, offshore reef that creates one of the best swells along the entire coastline. It is lovely to observe as it makes surfing, body surfing, tidepool exploration, and swimming even more enjoyable. You can sunbathe on the shore or watch surfers ride the waves.
If you didn't pack a meal, visit the concession stand situated at the bottom of the access road near the restrooms. Apart from food, snacks, and drinks, you can rent chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas, and more! The concession stand opens in the summer, holidays, and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You can explore the outdoors on a bike, but only on the paved trails. You can also go fishing if you are over 16 years old and have a state fishing license. If you are sweaty from your outdoor activities, find the showers near the snack bar, just around the North Shore event area.
If you enjoyed exploring Salt Creek Beach Park, consider booking the Private Party Area for your next event or milestone celebration. Only one event is allowed during the week, so hurry and reserve your spot!
