If you’ve lived in Southern California long enough to call this place home, you’ll most likely be able to relate to these ten things on this list. If not, perhaps you’re not a true Southern Californian after all.
1. All of this sunshine is sooooo boring.
Other parts of the country may give us a hard time for missing out on all of the seasons they get to experience year-round, but here in SoCal, we know the truth — everyone is just jealous that we have so much sunshine. And trust us, the sunshine never EVER gets boring.
2. What a bargain!
In SoCal nothing is a bargain. Whether it's the price of gas, the price of groceries, or even the price of a fixer upper, you can pretty much plan on having sticker shock on everything you buy in Southern California.
3. There's a storm a comin'.
Storms are not really a SoCal thing. We may get a little rain on occasion, some gusty winds every now and again, and perhaps a little thunder and lightning once or twice a year, but it's nothing that truly qualifies as a storm. Especially in comparison to the rest of the country. Just one more reason to love the lifestyle in Southern California.
4. If only I could find fresh fruit and veggies here.
We are quite blessed and a bit spoiled when it comes to fresh produce in SoCal. Whether you shop at a farmers market, head to the local grocery store, or even grow it in your backyard, you can count on the freshest produce all year long when you live in Southern California.
5. Being outside is just not my thing.
If you're a true Southern Californian, chances are you love being outside. Whether it's taking a long hike in the woods, a breezy stroll on the beach, or just playing in the garden in the backyard, there's no question that being outside is one of the many benefits of living in SoCal.
6. Where I can I find some good Mexican food around here?
When it comes to Mexican food, anyone from SoCal knows that is one thing we do exceptionally well pretty much anywhere you go. Whether it's fish tacos, a California burrito, or even just a side of chips and guacamole, nothing beats the Mexican food in SoCal. Except for Mexico, of course.
7. Where can you find a yoga class?
When you live in SoCal, you don't have to search very far to find a yoga class. Sometimes all you have to do is wander down to the park, the beach, or even the local farm and you'll bump right into one.
8. What's In 'N Out?
Not knowing what In 'N Out is will most definitely identify you as an out-of-towner pretty quickly. If you have to ask what it is, then you're most likely not from around here.
9. Where will I store all of my winter clothes?
When you live in SoCal, winter clothes aren't really a thing. We may have a light jacket or a fashion scarf we throw on every now and again, but nothing that really qualifies as "winter clothes" are ever taking up room in our closet.
10. It won't take me long to drive there.
Anyone from Southern California understands that there is always an investment of time when driving from point A to point B. No matter how close or far the destination may be, you always plan for a long trip in the car when you live in SoCal. Even if it's just a drive to the grocery store.
Do any of these things sound familiar? What else would you add to the list? Please share in the comments as we’d love to know.
