The Marvin Braude Bike Trail (partly known as The Strand), is a paved bikeway that winds along the spectacular oceanfront in Southern California. It stretches 22 miles from Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades to Torrance County Beach in Torrance.
The beachfront path is open year-round and is popular for cycling, jogging, rollerblading, or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll. Almost the entirety of the trail, with the exception of a four-mile section around Marina Del Rey, is right on the beach!
The trail is entirely paved, so it's accessible and enjoyable for all. Starting from the northern terminus, the trail meanders south, passing through Santa Monica State Beach and right underneath the Santa Monica Pier.
The next section of the path winds through Venice Beach where you'll pass by tons of shops, food stands, volleyball courts, and much more. From here, the trail veers off to wind around Marina Del Rey.
It then continues south through Dockweiler State Beach, El Porto Beach, and Manhattan County Beach. This part of the trail is the section popularly known as The Strand. It goes right past beach residences in Manhattan Beach and the famous Manhattan Beach Pier, arriving eventually at Hermosa Beach.
Stretching past dozens of beaches and through a handful of beach communities, the bike path is understandably popular. Be sure to use caution in areas that are especially crowded. If you're riding a bike, you may find it better and safer to dismount and walk through pedestrian traffic.
Boasting access to iconic destinations and endless oceanfront views, nothing compares to a day on this popular bike path. Take a look at the Marvin Braude Bike Trail map for more information and start planning your next beach day.
