Originally designed to be a toll bridge with an initial charge of .60 cents each way back when it first opened in the late sixties, the Coronado Bridge later removed its toll charge and is now free for cars to travel back and forth between the two cities.

Although the toll booths still remain, which can be confusing for visitors, it's still toll-free for cars heading into and out of Coronado.
