I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
There is something particularly exciting about thrift and antique shopping. Perhaps it is finding that one impossible-to-find item you’ve been searching for. Maybe it’s running across nostalgic trinkets from your childhood that you had forgotten about. Or it may be the fun and often unexpected finds you didn’t know you always wanted. If any of this sounds like you, get ready to explore an enormous collection of treasures old and new at this huge antique store in Southern California that is also a piece of state history.
King Richard's Antique Center is the largest antique and vintage center in the state. It is located inside a historic building that was built in 1902 and was part of the Whittier Citrus Association packing house.
It can take hours to explore this expansive space, so thankfully there is a restaurant on the premises. You can take a break from shopping, have a bite or a cup of coffee, then continue the hunt. Not only can you shop for antiques and vintage pieces, but the center offers a variety of on-site services each month, including a live auction, clock repairs, appraisals, and stained glass classes.
From glass cases full of antique trinkets to vintage living room-like spaces, this massive store is a well-organized and oh-so-inviting place to wander.
Whether or not you are looking for something to purchase, there is plenty to capture your attention, spark your feelings of nostalgia, and inspire your imagination.
You may not have been looking for a suit of armor - and one for your horse - but that doesn't mean you can't take one home! There are surprises everywhere; you just never know what you might stumble upon that you simply cannot live without.
The beautiful way in which antique items are organized and displayed gives this store definite museum vibes, making it a great destination for shoppers and history lovers alike.
The citrus industry background of this historic building pops up in various ways throughout the shop, such as these mini crates with vintage packing house labels that were for sale.
Step back in time, not only by entering this historic building but by taking time to appreciate vintage displays like these once-common methods of communication.
