I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
A Southern California road trip can mean exciting attractions, beautiful views, and more. But I know from experience that it can also mean hours of sitting, lots of traffic, and sometimes a little ‘road hypnosis.’ So, it is really helpful to know where you can safely pull off the road for a bit, use the restroom, stretch your legs, walk your dog, etc. If you happen to be headed down Interstate 5 toward San Diego, you can do all of that at perhaps the best rest stop in Southern California.
Have you ever taken a break at the Aliso Creek Rest Area, the best rest stop in Southern California? We would love to hear your thoughts! Whether your next road trip takes you past this great road stop or somewhere else entirely, make sure you’re well-prepared – check out our Ultimate Road Trip Packing List full of our favorite essentials. Not sure where to go next? I love this Santa Barbara to Los Angeles road trip.
