Hoping for a delicious dining experience with a side of heart-warming history? Head to Harold and Belle’s for genuine New Orleans cuisine right in the middle of Los Angeles. The Legaux family has owned and operated the restaurant for three generations, and is still going strong today!
Harold Leagaux Sr. and his wife Mary Belle opened Harold and Belle’s Restaurant in 1969, and since then it has been run by the family. The couple ran the restaurant until 1979 when Harold Sr. passed, after which Harold Jr. and his wife Denise took over.
Harold Jr. transformed the restaurant into a more fine dining establishment and changed the decor to fit the new aesthetic. In 1984, he got new partners and expanded the restaurant to 35 dining tables.
The menu also got lots of new items at that time, including Creole favorites like shrimp scampi, crawfish etouffee, and filé gumbo. Other great options for an authentic New Orleans-style meal today include jambalaya, Cajun salmon, and Louisiana-style catfish.
If you’re in the mood for something filling and delicious, you can also try Harold and Belle’s po’boys, which sometimes rotate and have specials around holidays. For dessert, you’ll love the amazing beignets. They’ll make you feel like you’ve just been transported right to New Orleans!
Today, the restaurant is owned by a third-generation couple Ryan and Jessica Legaux. One of their most impressive recent accomplishments is the construction of the gorgeous private dining and banquet areas. You can book your special occasion at Harold and Belle’s for up to 80 guests.
The third generation of the Legaux family will make you feel right at home at Harold and Belle’s. You’ll definitely be glad you experienced the amazing food and the atmosphere that can only be felt at a family-owned restaurant. Have you gotten to go to Harold and Belle’s yet?
