5. The hottest temperature ever recorded on earth was right here in Southern California in the town of Furnace Creek in Inyo County. The temperature reached 134 degrees on July 10, 1913. Now that's a scorcher!
8. Located on Catalina Island, a short ferry ride from SoCal, a wild herd of bison roams the land. Dating back to the 1920s, an original herd of bison was delivered to this part of SoCal for a silent film. The bison were never removed from the land and now the herd is 150 bison strong.
