I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
I have always loved Italian food and I will never forget the simple, fresh pasta, sandwiches, etc. that I enjoyed years ago in Florence. There are scores of great restaurants here in Southern California, including some lovely Italian food. But there are a few spots that really transport you (or at least your taste buds) overseas. Enter Made In Italy Bistro in Westlake Village, CA, where you can feast on incredibly fresh pasta, pizza, and more.
Made In Italy is an unassuming little restaurant in a busy Condo Valley shopping center, but step inside for a meal and you may very well think you have landed in Italy.
Using fresh, simple ingredients and recipes that have been handed down through generations, Made In Italy brings the authentic flavors of Italy to the heart of SoCal.
All of the pasta - including the gnocchi, lasagna noodles, and several other varieties - is hand-made in house, as is the delicious hand-tossed pizza dough. And there are so many options, one visit simply won’t be enough.
If bread is your love language, you cannot go wrong with one of the fresh paninis, served on flavorful house-made focaccia bread. I highly recommend this chicken, tomato, and pesto sandwich - so good!
And carry your love of bread right on over to dessert with a sweet calzone! The Dessert Calzone, stuffed with Nutella, strawberries, bananas, and pastry cream, is so fresh, you have to order it 20 minutes ahead of time. Of course, there are plenty of other sweet choices including tiramisu, chocolate mousse, panna cotta, gelato, and more.
