I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
San Diego may have the most temperate weather in the entire state – summers are not too long or hot, and winters are not too cold for a walk on the beach. Sure, it’s pretty idyllic, but even here in sunny Southern California, sometimes we want to experience a little wintery fun. Fortunately, families can enjoy just that at Poway Community Park’s Winter Festival in San Diego, CA.
In San Diego, snow doesn’t just come, it must be made. And that is exactly what happens each year in January. A little winter wonderland appears at this local park and families get a beloved snow day.
Enjoy the magic and charm of winter with a spin around the synthetic ice rink, whether you are an experienced skater or are sharing the experience with your littles for the very first time.
A day of outdoor winter fun simply has to include S’mores! Gather the family around a campfire and roast some marshmallows for a few ooey-gooey treats.
The festival includes lots of fun activities for all ages, from arts and crafts to cool carnival games to a free photo booth for getting some silly and memorable pics. And be sure to come hungry as there will be plenty of food and specialty vendors to enjoy on-site.
The Festival also has an extra special early access event for the Special Needs Community. Families with special needs are invited to join the festival on January 13 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for shorter lines and early access to all of the festival’s winter activities.
