I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
It is no secret that life on the American Frontier was not easy and a pretty far cry from the romanticized images of the era that live in most of our heads and in the movies. But knowing that does precious little to keep many of us from fantasizing about covered wagons, saloons, cowboys, and duels at high noon. So let’s set aside reality for a bit (at least the harsher aspects of it) and check out one of the coolest places to experience the Old West in Southern California – an especially unique vacation rental in Temecula, CA.
Old West Temecula is unlike any other vacation rental I have ever seen. Unlike western-themed hotel rooms or restaurants, this is an entire 1800s Wild West village, and you and your posse have it all to yourselves.
These are not facades to just take a photo in front of. Step inside the “Bank of the West” and you will find an authentic replica of a bank teller counter, complete with money bags so you can stage your own heist!
Of course, if you get caught (and let’s face it, this is a small town full of just your friends or family), you’re gonna have to spend the night in the jail cell at the Sheriff’s Office. Fortunately, the single cell looks pretty darn comfortable.
This simply would not be the Old West without a full saloon. This 2-story building has a 15-foot wooden bar, poker tables, and antique pool table, and an actual self-playing piano from the 1800s.
After a long day of mining, robbing banks, or gunslinging, it’s time to soak your tired muscles in the spa, relax by the fish pond, or gather around a bonfire.
At the end of the day, everyone has a comfortable place to turn in at either the Main House or the Guest Farmhouse (aside from the jailhouse accommodations). The Main House features rustic, western-inspired furnishings with modern amenities and plenty of space for everyone to hang out.
The Farmhouse resembles an old country homestead and, like the Main House, has 3 bedrooms and tons of modern comforts. Between the two houses and the jailhouse, Old West Temecula can accommodate up to 16 guests.
This stunningly unique property is nestled in Temecula’s wine country and provides an unforgettable vacation. What do you think? Would you gather your posse and book a stay at this one-of-a-kind vacation rental in Temecula? Find more photos, details, rates, and availability on the Old West Temecula website and find out about specials and events by following Old West Temecula on Facebook. Take your western-themed vacay over the top with this amazing horseback riding experience!
