With so many dining options in Southern California, and especially in a metropolitan area like Los Angeles, it’s especially fun when I come across something truly unique. In the heart of the city, tucked inside a residential neighborhood, is an enchanting little cafe worth checking out. Welcome to Lady Byrd Cafe in Echo Park, CA.
At Lady Byrd Cafe in the east-central Los Angeles area, diners are immersed in a secret garden-like space filled with flowers and plants, pretty indoor-outdoor seating spaces, and twinkling lights.
One of the cutest and most charming aspects of this adorable cafe is the chance to dine in a little greenhouse. What apparently started as a perfect solution to social distancing requirements during the Covid pandemic has evolved into a unique way to enjoy private brunches, romantic occasions, etc.
Breakfast is served all day and there are plenty of options, whether you fuel up early for a big day or come for a leisurely brunch. Choose from a selection of frittatas, breakfast burritos, and benedicts, as well as steak and eggs, a fried egg and Gruyere sandwich, and more. They even offer Vegan eggs on any breakfast item.
If you’ve got a morning sweet tooth, you cannot go wrong with the Brioche French Toast with honey cream or the popular Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes made with lemon and ricotta, served with home-made jam.
The drink menu is as delightful as the food menu, with a virtual coffee bar full of hot and iced options, smoothies and cold-pressed juice blends, wine (including bubbles and white, rose, and red sangrias), beer, and cocktails.
Your littles are welcome at Lady Byrd, too! There is a great kids’ menu with a variety of choices - including tiny pancakes, a Monte Cristo sandwich, fish and chips, a cheeseburger, and more - that will make just about any little one very happy.
The covered patio is as inviting as the garden, and especially romantic in the evening with the pretty lanterns hanging overhead.
