To add a little fun to your dining experience in Southern California, there are several restaurants that want to give you a free meal if you can manage to eat everything they put on your plate in record time. Are you up for the dare? If so, you might want to check out these eight restaurants with some pretty epic (or crazy?!) food challenges that will have you popping some Tums in no time.
1. Lumber Mill Bar and Grill -- Idyllwild
Think you can devour the five-pound Paul Bunyon burger in 45-minutes or less? Show up with an appetite and if you can eat every last bite you'll get the burger for free.
2. Big Mama's and Papa's Pizzeria -- Burbank and other SoCal locations
You and seven friends have the opportunity to get this pizza for free if you can finish this pizza pie in two hours or less. How many slices, you ask? Devour 200 slices in two hours for the win.
3. Heroes -- Fullerton
For a Sunday breakfast challenge, Heroes in Fullerton dares you to eat six of their giant pancakes with a side of bacon or sausage. If you can eat every last bite on your plate then they will give you the pancakes for free. This is a solo challenge so no sharing.
4. Fair Oaks Pharmacy and Soda Fountain -- Pasadena
If you all scream for ice cream then this might be your favorite food challenge of all. The Kitchen Sink is a whopping eight scoops of ice cream with toppings galore. To get this $40 dessert for free, a party of two must finish this in a half hour or less.
5. Fat Sal's -- San Diego and other SoCal locations
The Big Fatty at Fat Sal's Deli is a gigantic 27-inch sandwich layered with most every item on their menu including pastrami, cheeseburgers, cheesesteak, jalapenos, cheese, fries...and the list goes on. If you are brave and able to eat such a feast, then Fat Sal's Deli will give you the sandwich for free.
6. Jitlada Thai Cuisine -- Los Angeles
If you think your taste buds can handle something that's hot, hot, hot, then maybe you should check out the Dynamite Spicy Challenge at Jitlada in Los Angeles. Your mouth may be on fire when you're done as the dish is beyond any kind of spicy imaginable, but you can walk away from the table with a t-shirt just for finishing.
7. Oh My Burger -- Gardena, CA
The burger challenge at Oh My Burger is no joke. To get this 50-buck burger for free, you'll have to down an eight-pound burger and wash it down with a 16 oz milkshake.
8. Coolhaus -- Los Angeles and surrounding areas
You can get a towering multi-layered $20 ice cream sandwich for free if you can eat this beast all by yourself. Up for the challenge?
So what do you think? Are you ready for the challenge? I’m not so sure I can stomach any of these, but it might be interesting to try.
