The Drake Family Farms first started in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1880. For more than six generations, the family has continuously ran a goat farm. Dr. Dan Drake, the founder's great-great-grandson, finished his degree in veterinary medicine and brought a herd of 143 goats to California.

The farm, and the goats, are registered with the American Dairy Goat Association, which requires every goat to be listed under a herd name. These beauties are listed under the Willow Lane herd.

The farm produces artisan farmstead goat cheese in five varieties: Glacier, Feta, Mt. Baldy, Chevre and Idyllwild. Purchase the cheese in-person at the farm, online, or even find some at SoCal Farmers Markets and retail outlets. The farm also sells the cheese to various fine eateries nearby.
