I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
Just outside of Los Angeles, in the Santa Susana Mountains, is a park called Rocky Peak. Exactly as it sounds, this large wild, natural area is full of sandstone rocks and boulders that cover rolling hills and peaks that overlook the city. Rocky Peak Park has trails that are popular for hiking, dog walking, and horseback riding. One of these hikes, Hummingbird Trail, leads to a hidden cave in Simi Valley, California, that only the intrepid discover.
This hidden cave in Simi Valley is thrilling for those who conquer the Hummingbird Trail loop. Have you hiked in Rocky Peak Park, perhaps even getting to swing in the cave? Share your thoughts and experiences with us in the comments! For a slightly less strenuous, but equally beautiful, hike in the area, consider Coyote Park, Long Canyon.
