I was born and raised in sunny Southern California and will never tire of the West Coast, although I spent several years living in Southeast Asia, about as far from California as you can get. Wherever I am in the world, I love straying from the beaten path, experiencing local life, and discovering hidden gems - camera in hand. The beach is my happy place and when I am not there (or writing), you will usually find me baking, watching movies, and cuddling my pugs. I have traveled around the country and around the world, and it never, ever gets old. Being able to combine my passion for travel and my love of writing is nothing short of a dream.
From toddlers to adults, it seems that everyone loves macaroni and cheese. It is a staple at most Southern-style restaurants, a go-to for busy parents, and an iconic barbecue side dish. Some families have their own handed-down recipes, while others rely on a box. Whatever your favorite is, and however you have had it prepared up until now, this incredible macaroni and cheese in Southern California is guaranteed to be a game-changer.
Located in a relaxed neighborhood in Long Beach, The Attic occupies a 1920s Craftsman-style house and specializes in traditional southern-inspired cuisine with a modern California twist.
Now, let's talk about the macaroni and cheese. Actually, when you look at The Attic's menu, you won't see "Macaroni and Cheese." What you will see is "Mac and Cheetos," so you already know that this dish is going to be a little different than what you have eaten before.
The noodles are drenched in a creamy cheese sauce made with cheddar, mozzarella, and jack cheeses, then topped with green onions and - you guessed it - Cheetos. Not just any Cheetos, but Flaming Hot Cheetos!
The Attic has distinct menus for brunch, supper, and "intermission" (between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.) and the one thing that appears on them all is Mac and Cheetos.
The Attic also caters, both on-site and off-site. You can reserve a room at the restaurant for a celebration, dinner party, work event, baby or bridal shower, etc. If your event or party is elsewhere, The Attic is happy to come to you.
Whether you love the standard menu or want to take advantage of the restaurant's experience with multiple culinary styles and have them customize the menu to you, your guests will thank you.
