Most people who live in or visit South Dakota are no stranger to driving a few hours to get somewhere amazing. This small town is in a great spot, within a couple of hours’ drive of major landmarks and with many great places in town to enjoy. Bookmark this idea for easy access to day trip destinations in South Dakota and plenty of places to visit or eat locally. If you’ve never been to the town of Wall, there are plenty of reasons to put it on your travel bucket list. This weekend trip around Wall is sure to showcase the best of it!
Welcome to Wall and its historic drug store, where you might be asked, "Have you dug Wall Drug?" While in season, the soda shop is a local hotspot, but the store is always a great place to visit year round. Everything from the souvenirs to the huckleberry fudge will keep Wall Drug in your mind for years.
One great place to stop for food is Red Rock Restaurant, a spot serving classic American fare and more. Ribs, fried sides, steaks, and burgers are all great choices here, and if you travel with friends, you can each pick a different item and share.
3 Amigos Cantina has you covered for another meal, with great Tex-Mex options and friendly service. There's nothing that fills you up like a good quesadilla or burrito.
There are a number of places to stay in and near Wall, but for the ultimate cozy experience, there's nothing like an Airbnb by the name of Badlands Beautiful Bed and Breakfast. Everything is in the title, and it's one way to ensure you'll find gorgeous scenery even where you stay.
While here, local trails like the Buffalo Gap Trail are another way to experience these beautiful badlands. This one is only 6.7 miles long, and offers plenty of wildflowers on your hike whenever they're in season. Beautiful!
