The Unsolved Mystery In South Dakota That Still Baffles People Today
This chilling mystery has confused the minds of many for more than 20 years. No one really knows what happened, and no one ever will, and the details of the story offer barely any suggestions as to what did. The entire thing is shrouded in mystery and probably always will be.
It all started on December 12, 1992 near Lake Andes, South Dakota.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to see Tracy still trapped in the car, but Ruby and Arnold were nowhere to be found. They had left her behind and hadn't tried to get her out, and just sort of disappeared. Luckily, paramedics were able to save Tracy. As for the other two, they couldn't be found. A search was conducted, but after that night they just vanished. Questions began to circulate - why had they left Tracy behind, and where did they go?

By noon the next day, the police who were called onto the scene had discovered another body - it was Arnold's. But his body was in a completely different condition than Ruby's. His was described as much more fresh. None of his body was frozen to the ground like Ruby's, and his skin color was described as relatively normal. The assumption before that was that they must have died at around the same time after the crash, but this completely threw that theory out of whack. Why was Arnold's body much less decomposed than hers?
But this isn't even the strangest thing yet. A witness claimed to have seen Arnold and a few others weeks after the crash at a New Years Eve party. A polygraph test proved later this witness wasn't lying. But what on earth would have had to happen to cause them to crash, leave Tracy behind, Ruby to die first, Arnold to mysteriously reappear later, then die at a later time than the person he went missing with?
The families of the victims believe it was foul play, and the local police enforcement had their suspicions, too. Two men had been seen near the ditch just hours before the bodies were discovered and they were never found for questioning. It’s hard to say exactly what foul play may have happened – and why, if it did. The FBI closed the case in 1999 stating that it was simply an accident. After all, both bodies had been ruled to have died from exposure after their autopsies. However, that doesn’t explain the other loose ends in this mystery.
We will never really know what happened, but even now over 20 years later, it is still a case of speculation. What do you think happened?
