South Dakota’s hiking trails give you the opportunity to get out and enjoy our state’s natural beauty. But there’s one trail that offers more than just gorgeous forest…it’s said to be haunted by spirits. Native Americans believed this place to be haunted, and some hikers agree.
Native Americans named this place "Sica," which means "evil." The spring waters that flowed here were tinted red from minerals, which appeared to be blood. People believed that the spirits of the dead were manifesting with blood and flesh flowing in these waters.
Some visitors on this trail report that there's no wildlife to be seen, and that a creepy silence pervades this space.
