Springtime is the perfect time for an outdoor excursion, and Sioux Falls has plenty of places to play. Here’s a pretty park that has tons of things to see and do — pack a picnic and spend the entire day here.
You'll find Terrace Park at 1100 W. 4th Street in Sioux Falls.
The park is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
This gorgeous park is the perfect place to spend a warm, spring day. Pack a picnic, because you'll surely want to spend the entire day here.
The Shoto-Teien Japanese Gardens are one of the features of the park that draws people in, and you'll see why when you stroll through it.
The gurgling of the water features adds a bit of ambiance to the gardens...
...and the pretty lanterns are just one of many Japanese architectural features to see.
Sit on a bench and enjoy a moment of peace and serenity while you gaze at the lake and its beautiful surroundings.
Covell Lake runs the entire length of the park. It offers fishing and canoe/kayak access, and its home to brightly-colored koi and docile ducks.
The band shell hosts plenty of outdoor concerts throughout the warm months. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy live music and entertainment.
The aquatic center won't be open until June, but you'll be clamoring to plunge in the moment it's up and running. You'll find four drop slides, a zero-entry pool that's perfect for the little ones, and lifeguards to keep everyone safe.
If you're itching to get in better shape and improve your game, you'll want to bring along a friend for a game of tennis.
If basketball is more your speed, get a pick-up game going on one of the courts.
Springtime is baseball time, and if you or your kids are on a team, you might find yourself spending some long, happy afternoons at the Frank L. Boyce Miracle League Ball Field.
Let the kids burn off some of that endless energy at one of the playgrounds.
Terrace Park also has public restrooms, picnic shelters, a walking trail, and drinking fountains.
Whether you're looking for a quiet, peaceful moment in the gardens or a rowdy pick-up game of basketball, you'll love spending the day at Terrace Park.
