Do you need to get away, if only for a day? Thankfully, you live in South Dakota, which may as well be nicknamed the premiere state for day trips! While you have your pick in where to go, we suggest checking out this tiny northwest town that we happen to think is the perfect day trip destination:
Welcome to Lemmon!
Home to some 1,200 friendly and welcoming residents, Lemmon is billed as a "lively and safe community" with a surprising number of things to see and do.
Established in 1906, Lemmon is the place to be for history and agriculture, as the surrounding landscape boasts ample farmland, and the town itself features several historic landmarks and buildings that can still be visited.
As far as unique attractions go, Lemmon does not lack, as it is home to the one-of-a-kind Petrified Wood Park and Museum, plus the Grand River Museum and "Boss Cowman" Square.
What is a day trip without a bit of shopping and eating? The downtown area has plenty of that, too, thanks to its many local cafes and restaurants, boutiques, and special vendors.
In addition to all of the above, there is also plenty of outdoor recreation to go around in Lemmon, including golf, fishing and hunting, hiking and biking, swimming, ice skating, and more.
