South Dakota is packed with history. It’s easy to find places that transport you back in time but few places in the Coyote State can offer you history, dining, drinks, and murder under one roof. Head to Deadwood, South Dakota to Saloon No. 10 for a Wild West experience you’ll never forget. Just be prepared for a wild time!
Saloon No. 10 sits in the heart of Deadwood, and is the perfect place to eat, drink, and experience the history of this Gold Rush town. Although the original saloon burnt to the ground in 1879, the saloon you see today was rebuilt in the same location.
Part history museum, this saloon features many relics from Deadwood's Wild West past. You can read about notable events in the town's history, view pistols from the past, and be sure to see the "heads" of all the notable characters who used to frequent the saloon.
Although notable in its own right, Saloon No. 10's claim to fame arises from the 1876 murder of Wild Bill Hickock. You'll find many pieces of interest from Wild Bill's notable past inside.
One of the biggest attractions at the saloon is the reenactment of Wild Bill's murder. The scene is so convincing you'll feel like you're truly witnessing Wild Bill's untimely death.
After all the commotion from Wild Bill's deadly poker match, you'll probably need a drink. Head to the bar where you'll find the finest collection of American whiskey. They have over 200 bottles to choose from.
