I hear there are some great hikes in the Roughlock Falls Nature Area?
You heard correct! Roughlock Falls is a wonderful place to go hiking and one of the best hikes here is along the Roughlock Falls Trail. The beginning of the trail starts right near Spearfish Canyon Lodge. Although the trail, which is ADA-Accessible, only extends two miles in a loop, there is a lot to see along the way. Be sure to take lots of pictures of the beautiful forested areas, craggy rock formations, flora and fauna, and finally the beautiful Roughlock waterfall. This is a great place to spend the day so you might consider packing a lunch as well.
Where can I find a really good brewery in South Dakota?
South Dakotans definitely love their beers and you can find numerous wonderful breweries all over the state. For a different brewery experience, there's one that is reportedly the only farm brewery in the state. It is called A Homestead Brew. Located in the town of Valley Springs, it is family owned and operated on land that has been in the same family for over 100 years. Beer varieties here encompass all types of old-fashioned lagers, porters, and ales, in addition to special seasonal flavors that take you by surprise. Tours of the farm are also available, making a visit here a truly unique experience.
Are there any haunted attractions in South Dakota?
As a matter of fact there are. If you like adventures that are kind of on the spooky side, South Dakota does not disappoint. Mount Mary College in the town of Yankton, the Wounded Knee Massacre Site in Wounded Knee, and the IOOF Cemetery (of course there has to be a cemetery on this list!) in Gregory are just a few spots to get your paranormal exploration started.
