Raise your hand if the only reason you exercise is so you can eat a ton of food without as much guilt! *raises both hands* Whether you are like me, enjoy exploring South Dakota nature, or just want a good meal, today’s post is for you, as it contains both a beautiful hike and mouthwatering restaurant all in one spot:
Arguably one of the most beautiful spots in all of South Dakota is Spearfish Falls, which is made up of a tall cascade, and surrounded by lush trees and other foliage.
No matter the time of year, Spearfish is a must-see that can be accessed via a short and super-sweet .75-mile-long trail.
How does one find the trail to Spearfish? It's easy, as the trailhead is located just off the parking lot to the Latchstring Restaurant!
Whether you conquer the trail before or after your meal, make plans to stop and stay awhile, as the Latchstring is home to not only amazing food, but a fun and rustic ambiance as well.
Are you drooling yet?
In addition to housing the Spearfish Falls trailhead, the Latchstring Restaurant is also a mere .9 miles from the equally iconic Roughlock Falls.
Want to make a day out of it? Hike to Spearfish, have lunch and drinks at the Latchstring, and then finish up your day with a second hike to Roughlock... best day ever, right?!
The Latchstring Restaurant is located at 21046 US Hwy 14a in Central City and is open every day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
For more information about the restaurant and on-site trails, please visit the Latchstring's
