Have you ever strolled through a tunnel of trees? While this may sound like a foreign concept here in SoDak, we actually do have some of these shady, all-natural wonders, and they are just as beautiful as they sound! If you are ready to see one of these magical landmarks, you will want to visit South Dakota’s Good Earth State Park ASAP:
Located near Sioux Falls, Good Earth State Park is one of SoDak's newest albeit most beautiful parks, as it was established by Gove Dennis Daugaard in 2013 and features 588 glorious acres.
Once home to the Oneota Tradition Peoples, Good Earth State Park boasts one-of-a-kind scenery and amenities, including the famous Blood Run Site, lectures and special events, and - you guessed it! - a tunnel of trees.
Situated along the 1-mile-long River Trail, the Tunnel of Trees consists of giant, towering trees, some of which are folded over and some of which are just plain bountiful and create tons of shade.
In addition to the River Trail and its Tunnel of Trees, Good Earth State Park is home to 7 other short and sweet trails that also boast a length of 1-mile or less.
Admission to Good Earth State Park is $8 per day per vehicle.
