South Dakota is a state with some restaurants that are truly legendary. All too often, foodies overlook this little corner of the country in favor of more famously foodie-friendly states (looking at you, California and Texas), but this is an error – in doing this, they rob themselves of some truly delectable experiences. For example, check out this little diner in Sioux Falls that’s been around for more than 25 years now and is still going strong. It’s a wonderful mom-and-pop family-owned restaurant in South Dakota that’s withstood the test of time – come test your tastebuds!
It all started in an Airstream trailer in 1996, when a local family owned a little eatery they ran out of the place on Louise Avenue.
Fast forward just a few years, and the diner was so successful that it was time to relocate - and the rest is history.
Where Phillips Avenue Diner now stands is the place of a local legend - a place where you can get some of the downright best breakfast you've ever had.
Other must-try menu items include the beer cheese fried chicken (amazing), poutine (a classic made perfect by our friends to the north), diner chili (SO good, especially when it's cold out), jambalaya, a burger melt, and a long list of other things to argue over with yourself.
Ultimately, you'll just have to resolve to return as many times as you need to to try everything.
You'll definitely want to come back time and time again - first to try everything once, then to do it all again!
