Do you believe in ghosts? I’m not sure that I do…but I love hearing some of the haunted legends surrounding different South Dakota places. If you relish the thought of that spine-tingling feeling you get when you hear a ghost story, you might want to put these 10 creepy things on your bucket list.

1. Take a haunted road trip.
2. Hang out in this small town that has tons of paranormal activity.
Hill City is just full of paranormal activity. You'll find a haunted Harley-Davidson dealership, a haunted high school, a haunted cemetery and even a haunted inn where you can stay the night.

3. Take a hike on the Trail of the Spirits.
The Trails of the Spirits in Sica Hollow State Park is said to be haunted by ancient spirits. You'll notice that this place is very quiet...almost too quiet. After a few minutes, though, you might hear the sound of drums, moans and whispers.

4. Visit the place where Wild Bill Hickok was murdered.
Wild Bill was murdered in Deadwood while playing poker in Nuttal & Mann's Saloon on August 2, 1876. There are two places to visit: Wild Bill's Bar at 624 Main Street, which was built right on the spot where the murder occurred, and Saloon No. 10 at 657 Main Street (pictured here). Saloon No. 10 is not the actual location of the murder, but it's basically a museum full of memorabilia, including the chair that Hickok was sitting in when he was shot.

5. Stay overnight in one of South Dakota's most haunted hotels.
The Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City is said to be haunted. The 8th floor is especially creepy, with a ghost that wanders the hallways. The ghost of Mr. Johnson himself has also been seen here.

The Bullock Hotel in Deadwood is said to be haunted by its owner, Seth Bullock, who died in 1919. It seems that hotel owners like to stick around to keep an eye on things...

7. Take a drive down a haunted road.
There's a pretty little road in Brandon that's known as "Spook Road." Locals say that the bridges on the road are particularly haunted because people were hung there. Ghost sightings here are common.

The Wounded Knee battlefield is a national monument with a heartbreaking, tragic story. On December 29, 1890, more than 150 Lakota men, women and children were killed by the 7th Cavalry.

LaFramboise Island is located near Pierre, and the hiking trails are said to be haunted. The creepiest haunting is that of a little boy who appears to be lost. He leads you deep into the forest, then disappears.
