When it comes to ample wildlife, there is no better place to be than South Dakota, which is home to native species like bison, bighorn sheep, donkeys, and more. If you are looking for kinds of wildlife that are a bit more exotic to the Mount Rushmore State, however, there is only one place to go, which is the hands-on Bramble Park Zoo:
Located in Watertown, the Bramble Park Zoo may be a smaller town zoo but is chock-full of big city surprises!
Spanning 15 acres, the Bramble Park Zoo is home to more than 500 animals and an impressive 130+ different species, including birds, kangaroos, and snow leopards.
Opened in 1912, the Bramble Park Zoo is home to not only the main zoo but also a Kid's Zoo, Ottertown, Discover Center, and seasonal Wild Encounters, which allows guests to witness bear feedings, demonstrations, and face-to-face encounters with certain animals.
As if all of the above was not reason enough to visit, the Bramble Park Zoo is also home to unique Zoo Classes and Behind the Scenes tours, which last an hour and a half and allow guests to tour the premise with a biologist and get close to the ordinarily off-limits animals.
